Quality VS Quantity Full: Shopping for Your Dream Wardrobe on A Budget
If Quality vs. quantity isn’t already your mantra, it should be! This life motto is true for so many things and our wardrobe should be no exception.
Whether you are an emotional shopper that overbuys, or a strictly never steps foot in a department store because the anxiety to find even one item that works is just too much type of girl… changing your shopping habits to buy more quality pieces will save you time, money and frustration!
Overbuying is never the answer. You don’t need to spend a fortune to have a wardrobe that makes your heart sing every time you get dressed in the morning! I promise I will break down how to be a more discerning shopper!
Pay attention to what you are putting in your closet. Are you buying the same blouse over and over? Do you have 20 black sleeveless tanks? Ask yourself why?
Is it because you wear them constantly and they are showing signs of wear and tear so you keep buying new versions of the same shirt? Or is it because you just can’t bear to part with something that you have spent your hard-earned money on? Either way… Spending a little bit more on one item that won’t deteriorate immediately versus spending less on 20 items that fall apart quickly is much more sustainable for your wallet!
Mix high and low brands! This is one of my favorite stylist tricks! Invest money, buy quality, in the pieces you constantly wear. If you invest in quality basics, that will never go out of style and infuse your wardrobe with a few seasonal trends at a lesser price point.
For example, I am a small business owner and personal stylist in casual California… which means, jeans are a staple in my everyday wardrobe. I invest in denim that won’t sag, fade or stretch throughout the day… it keeps me comfortable and polished instead of frustrated and frumpy!
Invest in what you wear a lot and spend less on things that will go out of style quickly!
Reevaluate the stores and brands you’ve always shopped! Elevate your brands for a higher quality but stay on budget at stores like Nordstrom Rack, TJ Maxx, Sacks Off 5th, Luxury Garage Sale, and The Outnet! It may take a little more effort to comb through the racks of a discount store but your pocketbook will thank you later!
